Exactitudes

Ari Versluis started this photography project 14 years ago and has amassed an amazingly diverse collection of portraits of people expressing their unique fashion sense. The project started with him noticing that the young “nonconformists“ in Rotterdam actually tended to dress in practically identical clothing. The project expanded out from there, reaching to people young and old in cities around the world.

He has grouped his portraits by style…and I have to admit that I’ve been searching to find myself in this endless grid. The erie effect in his pairings are that strangers look like they must share a wardrobe. Of course, the notion of indivuality comes into play – I mean every great idea has already been thought, right? I guess it goes without saying that everyone’s style has been crafted by someone else as well.
