TRANSCENDENTAL FINNISH ART FASHION.

Picture 2

Gilles et Dada is a philosophical conundrum, trapped in a pandora’s box, wrapped with pretty knits and fancy silks. The doctrine of this nonsense art fashion house is a bit of a riddle for all the non-sophisticated Finnish kids, but the look book for the Walking Through Light collection might paint a better picture of this mantra stumper. Make the jump for transcendental looks. Read on

KL’S SELF-LOATHING VINYL TOY.

lagerfeld-tokidoki-figure-1

KL’s relentless war on the fat continued to blossom this week as he defended the skinny people who wear his clothes from the teeming hordes who want to tie his waifish models to pick-up truck bumpers and drag them through Parisian streets. As he levels cantankerous tweets at the overweight it would lead one to believe that Karl had never been fat. Read on

KATIE GALLAGHER SAVES REPUTATION FOR CAT PEOPLE.

i

Katie Gallagher, an up and coming fashion designer, sheds new light on cat people by being more than just crazy. When her cat Thomas isn’t perched on her head, the designer is creating a new wave noir look that is far too dark for her feline enthusiasts. Having worked with Anna Sui and ThreeAsFour, her cache of experience and eccentricities might make you think twice about the man wearing a cat on his head seen at Union Square. Check out some flicks of her S/S 2010 collection after the jump. Read on

GOTH IS THE NEW FLANNEL.

katieearybw

Katie Eary, a young and upcoming menswear designer, loves to create unorthodox fashion for dudes. The gear may not be work appropriate or the new (ubiquitous) plaid flannel shirt, but we can appreciate that next level shit. Now you know where to go if you want to look like Marilyn Manson at boot camp. Read on

YABBA DABBA DOO TIME ON ECSTACY.

 IMG_2584

If fashion was cereal, Jeremy Scott would be Fruity Pebbles. Literally. For spring twenty-ten, Scott brought Bedrock to London and pure radicalness to fashion week via Hanna-Barbera’s Flintstones. Just imagine Pebbles and Bam Bam to hit up the discotheque in spandex and on ecstasy. Read on

HOOD BY AIR SKID AN ORWELLIAN UNICORN INTO 2010.

Picture 2

A few years ago we played a skid party in Vancouver at a club called the Royal Unicorn (skids are the straight Vancouver equivalent of the NY banji scene which is essentially a bunch of lesbi-gays making awesome fashion / music / dance partiness. Does that make sense?). Anyway, the Royal Unicorn was an old massage parlor in Chinatown converted into a Karoake club. The same owners still ran the show and did very minor retrofitting to switch over from rubbing to singing which meant rather then being greeted by a bubbly clubgirl you instead paid the cover at the top of the stairs to a man behind a bulletproof glass window who sat in front of a bank of mini tvs that were linked to security cameras throughout the whole place. It was like partying in the future. Blade Runner style. This Hood By Air lookbook for 2010 is like a Blade Runner party at the Royal Unicorn circa 2025. Damn. Read on

popcrop

Any suspicions that you may have had about the ladies from P.A.M. actually being a pair of extremely motivated, Australian stoners rather than a couple of uptight, design nerds were indubitably confirmed when their press release stated that their POP! Eyes collection was inspired by David Attenborough’s The Tribal Eye. Take a look at their new adventure onto high street HERE and load up the bong before you head out to the teepee. Read on
